Lemak stands for "fat" in Malay, so nasi lemak is fatty rice, which describes the coconut-steamed rice that is fragrant and a delicous meal when served alongside fried chicken, eggs and accoutrements like peanuts and ikan bilis (anchovies)

Ingredients

  • Basmati rice
  • Coconut milk and pandan leaves
  • Chicken wing
  • Egg
  • Peanuts and ikan bilis

Steps

Step Procedure
1 Steam the basmati rice in coconut milk and a stalk of pandan leaf
2 Fry the chicken wings, eggs, peanuts and ikan bilis separately
3 Assemble and serve!
